All Nippon Airways Launches Unique Akkeshi Single Malt Japanese Whisky from HOKUSAI NORTH COLORS Series

TOKYO, June 20, 2025 – To elevate the onboard passenger experience, All Nippon Airways (ANA), Japan’s largest and 5-Star airline for 12 consecutive years, announced today that it will offer sales of three varieties of the Akkeshi Single Malt Japanese Whisky – Suirei, Kūsui and Kokiake – from the “HOKUSAI NORTH COLORS” series, through its International In-flight Duty-Free Pre-Order Service.

Akkeshi Distillery’s “HOKUSAI NORTH COLORS” series was created from a unique concept: “What if Hokusai had visited Akkeshi?” Boasting distinct flavors, aromas and hues, the three whiskies form a remarkable lineup expressing Hokkaido’s landscapes and seasons through Hokusai’s artistic lens.

“ANA is greatly honored to introduce Akkeshi Distillery’s ‘HOKUSAI NORTH COLORS’ series to our international passengers,” said Tomoji Ishii, ANA’s Executive Vice President of Customer Experience. “At ANA, we prioritize delivering exceptional in-flight shopping experiences. The inclusion of this distinctive Japanese whisky not only enriches our offerings but also proudly showcases the allure of Japan’s rich culture and craftsmanship to a global audience.”

Preserving Akkeshi Distillery’s long-valued craftsmanship, the new series takes a bold step, seamlessly blending whisky with art and culture. Each of the three whiskies will be released in waves – tentatively planned for July 1; Sept. 1; and Jan. 1, 2026 – allowing collectors to gradually complete the set. Beyond the superb taste, these highly artistic products captivate through their compelling visual design. Meticulously crafted, the packaging of each bottle, when aligned with the others, forms a complete, striking image of Hokusai’s renowned ukiyo-e print, “The Great Wave off Kanagawa” from the “Thirty-Six Views of Mount Fuji” series.

About Akkeshi DistilleryFounded in 2016, the Akkeshi Distillery in Hokkaido benefits from a climate and natural environment remarkably similar to Islay, Scotland, a region globally celebrated for its whisky production. Harnessing its cool, misty air, abundant local peat and the influence of sea breezes during maturation, Akkeshi provides an unparalleled environment for crafting authentic single malt whisky. By integrating traditional Scottish techniques with northern Japan’s rich terroir, the distillery crafts whiskies that are both bold and refined. Acclaimed by whisky connoisseurs in Japan and globally, Akkeshi consistently garners recognition for its unwavering commitment to craftsmanship and outstanding flavor.
